# Honda Headunit Hacks - Android Auto for Civic IX FK2/FK3

#### What do you need?

##### Hardware and Pre-req

- FAT32 formatted USB Drive
- Computer to download the APK files and load onto the USB Drive
- USB Cable for Android Auto connection
- Android phone with Android Auto capability

##### Software

- [OpenDriodAuto](https://github.com/MaKi983) - For Android Auto connection
- Honda Permissions - For allowing the OpenDroidAuto to run while driving 
    - Download "HR-V PERMISSIONS 1.1 S\_Mike" from [https://www.cmdroid.com](https://www.cmdroid.com)

#### Steps

1. Format your USB Drive as FAT32
2. Download **OpenDroidAuto** apk file and copy to USB Drive
3. Plug the USB Drive to the Car
4. On the headunit / infotainment system, click "Install App"
5. It will automatically search the files on your USB Drive, choose the apk file **HondaAppCentre\_A1.apk** (it is always the same file name for the system to pick up the app file)
6. Repeat 2 to 5 for **Honda Permissions**
7. Open **Honda Permissions** &gt; Process Control &gt; "+" button 
    1. Enter **process name** and **package name** as "it.smg.hu" (No quotes)
    2. **Auth Type** - THIRD\_PARTY
    3. **App Type** - OTHER
    4. **Video Out** - OFF
    5. **Sound Out** - Checked
    6. **Last Mode** - Checked
    7. Save
8. Connect your phone to the car by USB Cable and open **OpenDroidAuto**
9. Check the default checkbox when it prompts "Open OpenDroidAuto when this USB device is connected?" and click OK
10. Start
11. Good to go!
